Shippers Council Calls For Use Of Intermodal Transport To Evacuate Cargoes From Ports FIDELIS UGBOMEH The Executive Secretary of Nigerian Shippers Council, NSC, Hon. Emmanuel Jime has advised government to adopt intermodal means of transport in the evacuation of cargoes from our ports in order to reduce the current congestion at Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports due to reliance on the road mode to evacuate cargoes. According to him  inland waterways,  rail and road linkages are significant parts of port operations that should come together for the nation to achieve the ultimate objective of ranking as a premium, proper maritime nation. Subsidy Removal: Traders urge FG, States to repair roads as panacea for rise in cost of food items.

By Fidelis Ugbomeh.  Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Mohammed Bello-Koko, his counterpart at Nigerian Shippers Council, Hon Emmanuel Jime and the President General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) are among the stakeholders that have confirmed their attendance at the Breakfast Meeting organised by the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) in Lagos tomorrow, Thursday 6th, 2023. The breakfast meeting is billed to hold at the Rockview Hotel in Apapa GRA, Lagos. Theme of the event is: "Rehabilitation of Tin Can Island Port: Proffering Workable Solutions." Stakeholders seek for solutions for poor state of Tin Can Island Quay Apron.

Stakeholders Seek For Solution For Poor State Of Tin-Can Island Quay Apron Maritime Stakeholder have concluded plans to hold a brainstorming session  over the dilapidated and collapsing quay apron at Tin Can Island Port of Lagos, as well as the need for the rehabilitation of other ports around the country. The brainstorming session, organized by Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) with theme: "Rehabilitation Of Tin-Can Island Port And Proffering Workable Solutions", is expected to hold on  Thursday July 6, 2023 at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos. According to a statement  signed by president of MARAN, Mr Godfrey Bivbere the event would also be used to inaugurate the newly elected officials of the association into office. He noted that the association is worried that the collapsed quay apron of the port is already leading to vessels avoiding the Tin Can Port and this would lead to loss of revenue for the federal government....
