All is now set for the inaugural Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria annual lecture as President General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Prince Adewale Adeyunju, former Minister and Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Genesis Worldwide Shipping, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, and Chief Isaac Jolapamo, have confirmed their attendance at the event slated for November 29. this year. FG seeks partnership to fund shipping line

By Fidelis Ugbomeh.   The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola CON, has said that the Federal Government is considering a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to fund the re-establishment of the National Shipping Line to enable the ministry secure a substantial quota of the estimated $10 billion ship chatter market. He urged stakeholders on the need for full enforcement of the Cabotage Act to encourage efficient utilisation of inland waterways transportation to facilitate trade, encourage indigenous ship construction, maintenance, and repairs, stating that strengthening Cabotage enforcement would enable local businesses thrive. Maran Inaugural lecture shifts to November 29th.

The  annual lecture titled: "Maritime Security: Emerging Threats and Actionable Steps" is targeted at proffering long-term, sustainable solutions to security threats in Gulf of Guinea will now take place on Wednesday 29, 2023 at Rockview Hotel Apapa, Lagos. According to a press statement signed by President of MARAN, Godfrey Bivbere, the 2023 MAMAL would effectively address maritime crimes in the Gulf of Guinea (GoG) region and protect seafaring and fishing communities in the affected countries. Maritime Workers Union floats Magazine.

As part of efforts to project the views and activities of workers in the maritime sector, the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has launched its new magazine known as “Maritime Labour Voice.” The event took place on Wednesday at Rock View Hotels, Apapa, Lagos and was attended by dignitaries in the maritime sector, including Chairperson,  Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN), Princess Vicky Haastrup. President General, MWAM Comrade Adewale Adeyanju in his remarks at the event stated that the magazine was floated to promote harmonious working relationship environment that will stimulate industrial peace and represent voice of voiceless.
