NRC debunks train fire

By Afolabi Oyekunle. Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC)  says none of its trains is involved in any fire incident; as it debunks recent video circulation on social media. According to a release  by Callistus Unyimadu, Chief Public Relations Officer of the corporation, the incident showing on social media occurred  over three years ago.  "We wish to categorically clarify that the incident in question occurred over three years ago along the Warri–Itakpe rail corridor.  The video is not recent and does not reflect the current state of operations or safety on any of our train services." NRC urged the general public to desist from sharing outdated or misleading content, as such actions only serve to incite unnecessary fear, panic, and misinformation.  "The circulation of false or outdated information undermines public trust and national development and should be strongly discouraged." NRC: Warri-Itakpe trains sunspended to address immediate technical problems.

The Management of Nigerian Railway Corporation has urged members of the public to bear with it following the temporary suspension of the Warri-Itakpe train services due to technical issues. In a release by the Corporation, it said following technical issues, the train services were suspended on July 15th and 16th to immediately address the problems. NRC said efforts are ongoing to restore services promptly as the engineering team are working to resolve the issues. While apologizing to its esteemed passengers, the Corporation assured that their welfare and safety are utmost in all decisions by the Corporation The Corporation advised the people to keep a breast of further development on her official communication channels.

LASTMA: Masterstroke of public policy in Nigeria – Opeifa

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Dr Kayode Opeifa said the establishment of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) was a masterstroke in public policy. He was speaking at an event to mark the 25th years of the Authority. Veteran Boat Captain Afotan Retires After 28 Years of Meritorious Service at LASWA Captain Claudius Adeleke Afotan, a veteran boat captain with the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), has officially retired after an illustrious 28-year career marked by an unblemished safety record. Widely respected for his exceptional discipline and professionalism, Captain Afotan fondly called Baba Ilaje sailed various government patrol boats for a total of 500-hours across Lagos waterways without a single recorded mishap or boat damage throughout his service.
