Nine things to know about Kanu,s arrest.

   Federal Government on Tuesday presented the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu before Federal High Court in Abuja. The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami said: “Self-acclaimed leader of the proscribed secessionist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been intercepted through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and Security Services.” Here are nine things to know about Nnamdi kanu’s rearrest:- 1. Kanu went into hiding in 2017 following the alleged invasion of his home by the military, months after he was granted bail while being tried for treasonable felony. He has thereafter declared wanted by the federal government. 2. Although there are no details on where he was re-arrested, Malami said he was re-arrested on Sunday, July 27. 3. The wife of the late Nigerian pastor and founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Evelyn Joshua, is poised to become the head of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN). The church’s elders met recently and declared Everlyn as the successor to the Nigerian televangelist TB Joshua . “Someone must take charge immediately and give spiritual direction on the mode of service continuity. So much spiritual and financial efforts went into building SCOAN and it cannot just waste away,’’ a top aide said. Evelyn met the late pastor in 1990 when she had traveled Egbe to visit her sister. The two were married for 31 years and had three children. It was further reported that she had gone to meet him for counseling and spiritual guidance. Lagos EndSars Panel Awards 10million to Kolade Johnson,s family

The Lagos judicial panel has awarded the sum of N10 million to the family of one of the many victims of police extrajudicial killing, Kolade Johnson. Johnson was shot during a raid by police officers at Onipetesi area in Lagos, while watching an English premiership match between Tottenham and Manchester United on March 31, 2019. The Lagos state police command later identified the trigger-happy officers as Ogunyemi Olalekan, a police inspector, and Godwin Orji, a sergeant. Following an orderly trial, Olalekan was dismissed from the force after he was found guilty, while Orji was acquitted. Shortly after the  ENDSARS  judicial panel was constituted by the Lagos state government, the family of the deceased wrote a petition demanding justice. At the resumed hearing of the panel, the chairman of the panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi, announced the award of N10 million naira compensation to the family. The award sum was received by the mother of the deceased.

MAN SETS IN LAW HOUSE ON FIR

A 40-year-old man, Ibrahim Musa has set his in-law’s house ablaze at Kuzoyara village, Birniwa local Government area of Jigawa State It was revealed that the man burnt his in-law’s house over the wife’s failure to return to his house after a temporary break up with him. He allegedly sneaked into the wife’s family house on Monday night when they were away for a condolence visit and set the house ablaze. Spokesman of the State Police Command, Asp Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident. He said the suspect went to the house of his in-law at Kuzoyara village and set it on fire. As a result, another hut belonging to his mother in-law got burnt to ashes, but no life was lost. Adam said the suspect was arrested while investigation is in progress.

2021 HAJJI: SAUDI ARABIA BARS NIGERIA

          Holy Site of Kaaba.  Saudi Arabia has barred travellers from Nigeria and other countries from performing 2021 Hajj over coronavirus concerns. This is as Saudi Arabia announced it will allow 60,000 vaccinated residents of the kingdom to perform the annual hajj. The hajj ministry said this year’s pilgrimage would be “open for nationals and residents of the kingdom, limited to 60,000 pilgrims”, according to the official Saudi Press Agency. With this, travellers from Nigeria have been barred from performing hajj for the second time in a row. Last year, the kingdom also hosted downscaled hajj amid the coronavirus pandemic, preventing thousands of Nigerian pilgrims from participating. The pilgrimage, scheduled to be held at the end of July, would be limited to those who have been vaccinated and are below 65 years of age with no chronic illnesses, it said. ABIOLA,S FAMILY: FG HAS NOT FULFILL PROMISES.

           Chief M.K. O ABIOLA Family of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election, late Chief MKO Abiola, on  said the Federal Government has not fulfilled promises made to the family. Rahaman Abiola, who serves as the Secretary of the family, disclosed this in an interview with journalists when a delegation of the Ogun State Government, led by the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, visited the Abeokuta family house of Abiola to celebrate the June 12 democracy day. Abiola was believed to have won the June 12 election which was adjudged the freest and fairest election in the history of the country. President Mohammadu Buhari had moved the country’s democracy day celebration from May 29 to June 12 to honour Abiola, the hero of Nigeria’s democracy. Nigeria: Theatre of Violence and Killings.

Events in the past few weeks should be a concern to Nigerians at home and abroad as a once peaceful country has become a land of blood. Hardly would a day pass without an ugly incident. If  the bandits  did not kill people, Boko Haram will be in action killing innocent people in the north. The numbers of assassination increase daily without any arrest of culprits. Recently a top Chieftain of the ruling party, APC, Ahmed Gulak was assassinated in Imo State in broad daylight after a national assignment in the state. In Ibadan, Oyo State, a businessman was gunned down, while a retired judge also met his waterloo in the hands of assasinators. At least seven personnel of the Nigerian police force were recently killed in Rivers State, while in a mere local government primary election of APC in Lagos State, two people were killed in Surulere local government area.
