Workers Day: ASCSN assures members that their welfare remains top priority.

Towards this, the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN has assured its teeming members that their welfare remains a top priority. Newspapers Houses indebted with over ₦1.3 billion in unpaid pension contributions for journalists.

Journalists in the country particularly in the newspapers industry have cause to smile as the National Pension Commission PenCom has risen to their unpaid pension challenge and has taken the battle to the Nigerian Press Council. The  Commission (PenCom) said that newspaper organisations are owing over ₦1.3 billion in unpaid pension contributions for journalists.  This was disclosed by the Director General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, who led a delegation to the Nigerian Press Council in Abuja.  Ms. Oloworaran expressed concerns over widespread non-compliance with the Pension Reform Act 2014 (PRA 2014) among media establishments. Consequently, PenCom and the Nigerian Press Council have entered into a strategic collaboration to prevail on newspaper organisations to settle the huge pension liabilities owed to their employees.The PRA 2014 mandates that employers remit monthly pension contributions into employees’ Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) ...

Warri-Itakpe train services resume Wednesday

Workers deserve living wages so says NUCFRLANMPE President.

NRC says Warri-Itakpe rail.services will bounce back stronger.

Ondo State to leverage Pension funds towards infrastructural development.

By Afolabi Oyekunle Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of  Ondo State says the state  is exploring opportunities to leverage pension funds for infrastructural development in the state.  The Governor made the revelation on Tuesday, 15 April 2025 when he received a delegation from the National Pension Commission (PenCom) led by the Director General, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran in Akure. PenCom delegation visited the Governor to discuss critical pension reforms aimed at improving welfare for retirees and ensuring compliance with the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Speaking during the visit, Governor Aiyedatiwa extolled the critical role of pension funds in economic development and commended PenCom for its proactive engagement.
