By Afolabi Oyekunle. Veteran comic actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, was buried today in Lagos.  The actor died in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Monday. The burial was witnessed by many people including his colleagues in the industry. The news of his death drew reactions from prominent Nigerians including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo who said, “Baba Suwe’s death had left a vacuum that would take some time to be filled in the entertainment industry. Adultery:  End our marriage, policeman begs court. A 45-year-old policeman has  told an Igando Customary Court to end his    14 year old marriage, accusing his wife Rashidat of being promiscuous.   Mr. Rafiu Ademola, on Thursday prayed the  Customary Court to end his 14-year-old marriage over his wife’s alleged cheating. “I saw messages of her adulterous acts on her WhatsApp chats with her lovers, she meets with them at different locations. “She told one of the men that she is a single mother and stays with her sister. “I transferred all the chats into my phone as evidence,” he said. The plaintiff said that his wife was lazy and hardly cooked for the family.               The 3 Suspects 18-year-old Samson Odunayo, said he decided to go into robbery because he needed money for data subscription, so as to delve into internet fraud. He is one of the teenagers arrested for allegedly killing a motorcyclist in Ogun state. The suspects (Sodiq Awokoya,18, Samson Odunayo,18, and Jimoh Rilwan, 17,) were arrested on the 8th of October at tollgate area of Ogere where they had gone to sell the deceased motorcycle. Further investigation revealed that Samson Odunayo was the person who called the deceased to take him to somewhere in Iperu, unknown to the okada man that he had already informed Sodiq Awokoya to wait in a bush along Ona Eri area of Iperu with cutlass and other dangerous weapons. On getting to the point, Samson Odunayo ordered the deceased to stop because he has gotten to his destination. The federal government has declared Tuesday, October 19, as a public holiday to mark the Eid-ul-Maulud celebration. Permanent secretary, ministry of interior, Shuaib Belgore, made this known via a statement to this effect on Friday. Plans are underway in Kano state, Nigeria to produce 150 MW of electricity from waste. This was announced by Capegate Investment Limited, a Nigerian-based company that specializes in Biotechnology and Waste management, approximately three months after it signed a 20-year public-private partnership with the Kano State Government and took over waste management in the state. Speaking on the  plans, Bello Abba Yakasai, the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) said that next year, they will generate 10 megawatts of electricity and in the next five years, depending on how the typology of waste changes, will yield to 150 megawatts for Kano and Jigawa. According to the Capegate Investment COO, the plan to produce 150 MW of electricity from waste in Kano is  part of a larger plan where the company intends to establish three major industries.

                Mr. President. The presidency has disclosed why President Muhammadu Buhari relieved two Ministers of their duties. Buhari had on Wednesday relieved Saleh Mamman, Minister of power, and Sabo Nanono, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Developments of their duties. Speaking on Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily,  Special Adviser to the president on Media, Mr Femi Adesina said the ministers’ removal was to reinvigorate the Buhari administration. He explained that their removal was to consolidate on “legacy performance”. According to Adesina: “Matter of fact is that the president said he had reviewed the performance of the cabinet and needed to reinvigorate for the last run. He said he wanted to consolidate on legacy performance and projects. He however said they were not removed for poor performance.

The Arole Oduduwa & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has charged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to end the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD), without further delay. Ooni Ogunwusi made the call on Thursday at his Ile Oodua palace, Ile-Ife, during the inauguration of the SouthWest Traditional Leaders’ Committee on Public Health Delivery, by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.
