Pensioners Warning to LSG: Don't Underestimate Our Powers and Influence.

By  Afolabi Oyekunle. Pensioners in Lagos state have warned the state government not to underestimate their powers in deciding the next election in the state. The Pensioners who are unhappy with the state government in dealing with their affairs in particular its reluctance to pay the Contributory Pensioners their defined benefits and wages enhancement warned the government to note they have voting rights and can use their influences to tilt situations in their favour. The CPS Pensioners last Monday took to the streets in their zones carrying placards with various inscriptions on the injustice being melted to them by the state government. NSITF MD mourns NLC General Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja, says death a loss to the labour movement.

NSITF Urges NBA to Expand Legal Frontiers of Workplace Protection to Cover Informal, Gig Workers

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to lead the push to expand the legal boundaries of workplace protection and social security in Nigeria, saying the law must now cover informal sector and platform workers, not just those in formal employment. Lagos CPS Pensioners stormed streets in their zones, call on Governor Sanwoolu to pay their entitlements.

Hundreds of Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state today stormed streets and roads in their zones with placards in protest against the delay in the implementation of their entitlements and wages as approved by President Bola Tinubu. Singing solidarity songs and showing their anger they condemned the delay saying it was injustice to them to be denied their benefits. Speaking with newsmen they said the delay in paying the entitlements does not portray Governor Babajide Sanwoolu in good light to them. Contributory Pensioners under the (CPS)  in Lagos state will on Monday 24th, 2026 stage warning protests in all their zones to press for their Pension entitlements and wages enhancement from the Lagos state government.   The protest is coming after the expiration of 19days ultimatum given on August 1st for the state government to pay them which the government has not fulfilled. The Pensioners said they have decided to embark on the protest as they could not continue to live with the situation where many of their members are suffering because of the peanut they are receiving under the present pension scheme. They wondered why the Lagos state government is delaying the payment after the actuarists have completed the complications of their total benefits package. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, as Director of Fundraising for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections. The appointment was contained in the list of members of the campaign council released on Saturday by the Presidency. President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be Vice Chairman. Lagos CPS Pensioners take their case to President Tinubu, call on Him to intervene.

Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state have taken their case to President Bola Tinubu calling on him to prevail on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to pay the Pensioners their entitlements and wages increase. The Pensioners who spoke on the delay by the Lagos state government to pay their entitlements called on President Bola Tinubu to look into their case. The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday launched the South-West Zonal National Community Food Bank in Ogun State, urging state governments across the region to replicate the initiative to strengthen the fight against food insecurity and malnutrition. Speaking at the launch held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Senator Tinubu said the programme was designed to ensure that vulnerable Nigerians, particularly children and pregnant and lactating women, have sustained access to nutritious food. Pension payment: Lagos CPS Pensioners set for warning protests across the state.
