Tantita Seizure: Federal High court orders forfeiture of MT Kali.

By: Afolabi Oyekunle.  The Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the forfeiture of an illegal crude oil vessel, MT Kali and its content to the Federal Government. The illegal crude oil vessel was arrested by a Private security outfit, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL). Securing this judgement is a first scenario in recent times when oil thieves and their barons are being prosecuted and brought to book as 20 crew members, including community boys' accomplices, were arrested in the operation. The police in the Charge NO. FHC/ABJ/CR/18/2024 B/W: INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE V. MT KALI & 22 ORS, had arraigned the vessel and its 22 crew members before the Federal High Court, presided over by Justice J.O. Ajuzie Heads NAGAFF Trade Faclitation Team Pledges To Deliver Expressly On Mandate

The one time Executive Chairman of NAGAFF, Apapa Premier Ports, Dr. Fred Ajuzie has been officially inaugurated as National  Chairman Trade Facilitation team on Tuesday at the National headquaters in Lagos. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the National president of NAGAFF, Chief Tochukwu Esizi gave a string warning to the leadership of the team not to allow duplication of roles or purpose and clash of interest amongst other existing standing committees of the association. As part of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola’s Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for the year 2024, as signed in the performance bond by agencies, the Bill which seeks to repeal the Nigerian Shippers’ Council Act Cap N133 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN), and enact the Nigerian Shipping and Port Economic Regulatory Agency Act has passed the second reading at the House of Representatives.   Presenting the Bill on the floor of the House on Wednesday 14th February 2024, the Chairman, House Committee on Shipping Services, Hon. OYETOLA assures of Nigeria chances of increase global trade benefits

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola CON, has formally received the report for the implementation of the Port Community System (PCS) in Nigeria, a move that will enhance the ease of doing business in ports within the country.  The PCS initiative aligns with the Convention on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic (FAL) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and its objectives include preventing unnecessary delays in maritime traffic, enhancing cooperation between governments, and ensuring uniformity in formalities and procedures. Ban of sales of satchet sprit drinks will result in loss of over 500thousand jobs.

By Afolabi Oyekunle. Over 500 thousands workers stand to loose their jobs as a result of the ban of sales of alcohol drinks in satchets. Concerns about the ban by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration (NAFDAC) have been raised in many quarters which made workers in the Food and Beverage sector to stage a protest at the office of NAFDAC in Lagos. Also this made the Food and Beverage Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) to stormed the National Assembly to urgently request the law makers to intervene so that many workers will not loose their jobs and contribute to the economy downturn. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria(MAN) is also not keeping quiet about the matter as the Director General of the body, Mr. Segun Ajayi-Kadir said it was a decision that would have negative impact on the economy. The ban of the sale of satchet alcohol drinks and the continue fall of Naira to other currencies are twin problems that will affect the Food and Beverage industry drastically and cause manufacturers to lay off thousands of workers. In appreciation of these many Christians from different denominations trooped out to churches today being the first Sunday in the month of February to show their appreciation. Members of the Redeemed People of the Lord Church, Temidire area in Sango-Otta, Ogun State also trooped out to their church in beautiful regalia as they sang praises to God and danced in appreciation of God's goodness in their lives. Their were several activities as the church choir rendered praises to God. February, our month of God's Covenant.
