Ogun state releases N6.75bn for Gratuity, Additional Pension Benefits

By Afolabi Oyekunle. The Ogun State Government has released N6.75 billion for the payment of gratuity and Additional Pension Benefits (APB) to retirees in the state. The Head of Service, Mr. Olanrewaju Saka disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the release was part of the government’s continued efforts to address outstanding pension obligations and improve the welfare of retired workers. According to him, N2.751 billion was released to pay gratuity to 432 beneficiaries, while another N4 billion was released for the payment of Additional Pension Benefits to eligible retirees from July 2025 to date. Saka said the government remained committed to ensuring that workers who had served the state meritoriously received their retirement benefits despite competing demands on the state’s resources. NRC: Fire incident at Idu station does not affect smooth running of Abuja- Kaduna train services.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) says the  minor fire incident that occurred due to  low-voltage at  electrical room of  Idu Train Station, Abuja, on Wednesday does not affect the smooth running of the Abuja- Kaduna train services. A statement by Callistus Unyimadu Chief Public Relations Officer of NRC says t he incident, noticed at about 8:30 p.m., was promptly brought under control by the  maintenance personnel as preliminary inspection showed that some electrical supply cables connected to the control panels were damaged.  The Corporation confirms that the solar power system was not affected. Power has also been temporarily restored to the lifts and escalators, with all currently operational except Lift 1. LASWA honours two retirees after 35years in service.

Both  Prince Gbadamosi Hakeem and Captain Shakirudeen Lamidi,  bowed out of active service after attaining the statutory 35 years of meritorious service in the Lagos State Civil Service. Pensioners accuse Governor Sanwoolu of working against the interests of President Bola Tinubu.'
