NDLEA seeks for stiffer penalities for drug related offences.

By Afolabi Oyekunle. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is seeking for stiffer punishment for drug related offences to help minimize and discourage those who indulge in it. Towards this the Agency has submitted a bill at the National Assembly towards looking into the existing penalities and also make it specific. This was stated at a one day education seminar for the youths on the danger of drug abuse, in Lagos by the Assistant Commander of Narcotics in Lagos State, Uche Sampson who represented the Chairman of  NDLEA, Rtd. Brigadier Buba Marwa. With the Theme, " Nigerian Youths & The Danger of Drug Abuse", the Seminar at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, was put together by True Witness Communications and Media Services. Another body of accident victims on 3rd Mainland Bridge recovered

The body of another victim of an accident that occurred on the 3rd Mainland bridge has been recovered according to the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA)   According to LASWA,  initial reports suggested a lone occupant, but a follow-up investigations confirmed the presence of a second passenger, identified as *Chado Daniel Danladi*, aged *31*, residing at 7 Oremeta Street, Off Opebi Link Bridge, Ikeja.  He was recognized as a colleague of the first victim.   On the early hours of Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, a tragic but resolutely managed incident occurred involving a Toyota Camry saloon car that plunged into the Lagos Lagoon from the 3rd Mainland Bridge, inward Iyana Iworo. Train Derailment: NRC temporarily suspends all Abuja-Kaduna Train Services (AKTS)

Following the derailment yesterday of the Kaduna bound train at Asham, in Kaduna state, the Nigerian Railway Corporation has temporarily suspended all Abuja-Kaduna Train Services (AKTS). According to the NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, the suspension would enable the Corporation to recover the site of the derailment and work towards bringing everything back to normal. .           NRC MD Dr. Kayode Opeifa. Seven passengers out of 618 people on board sustain varying degrees of injury and were immediately transported by ambulances to hospital while the remaining passengers were conveyed to Idu and Kubwa stations aboard a rescue train dispatched from Idu. According to Dr. Opeifa, they had all returned back to their destinations. NRC regrets the inconveniences cause by this and thanked her esteemed passenger and the general public for their understanding.

Warri-Itakpe train service sets to resume soon says NRC.

By Afolabi Oyekunle. The suspended train services between Warri to Itakpe will soon resume as repair works have reached advanced stage. This is according to Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu in a press release. The train service is being suspended to enable NRC effect repairs on critical tracks towards safety, reliability and comfort of passengers.      Repair works on the train track According to the release, train movement will commence at the shortest possible time. The Corporation appreciates the patience, understanding and cooperation of passengers, and reiterates its commitment to reliable rail transport services across the country.

PenCom engages Police towards better pension packages for members of the force.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has stepped up efforts to improve the welfare of police officers under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), following a high level visit by its Director General, Ms Omolola Oloworaran, to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, at Force Headquarters, Abuja. Ms Oloworaran, who was accompanied by senior members of PenCom’s management team, met with the IGP, senior police officers and the leadership of NPF Pensions Limited – the Pension Fund Administrator responsible for managing police pension assets. Expressing gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for its tireless service to the nation, Ms Oloworaran stressed the need for stronger collaboration between PenCom and the Police to address pension concerns and improve retirement benefits for officers. Dangote Refinery reduces again price of Premium Motor Spirit price of Petroleum again to 820naira.

By Afolabi Oyekunle.     Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot (gantry) price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, by N30.00, from N850 to N820 per litre, effective from  yesterday 12th August 2025   The Refinery assures the public of a consistent and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products as part of its unwavering commitment to national development.  "In line with our dedication to operational excellence and sustainable energy solutions, Dangote Petroleum Refinery will commence the phased deployment of 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks for fuel distribution across Nigeria, effective August 15, 2025."
