Another body of accident victims on 3rd Mainland Bridge recovered

The body of another victim of an accident that occurred on the 3rd Mainland bridge has been recovered according to the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA)
 
According to LASWA,  initial reports suggested a lone occupant, but a follow-up investigations confirmed the presence of a second passenger, identified as *Chado Daniel Danladi*, aged *31*, residing at 7 Oremeta Street, Off Opebi Link Bridge, Ikeja. 

He was recognized as a colleague of the first victim.

 On the early hours of Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, a tragic but resolutely managed incident occurred involving a Toyota Camry saloon car that plunged into the Lagos Lagoon from the 3rd Mainland Bridge, inward Iyana Iworo.

According to The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) its  Search and Rescue (SAR) team responded immediately upon receipt of the distress call.

 The team confirmed that the vehicle carried a *female occupant, identified as Aisha, aged approximately 25–35 years. Her body was swiftly recovered by local divers and promptly handed over to her family.

It said Emergency response units from *LASWA*, *Marine Police*, *LASEMA*, and the *Rapid Response Squad (RRS)* coordinated seamlessly at the scene, with valuable assistance from *local fishermen* who played a crucial role in the recovery efforts.

LASWA said the body of the second victim was recovered during an extended SAR operation and has been delivered to his family.

PenCom urges Lagos State Governor to extend periodic pension increase to retirees under CPS, as Sanwoolu welcomes the idea.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom)  has called on  the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to extend periodic pension increases currently enjoyed by Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) retirees to those under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to boost their monthly pensions.  The Director General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made the request during a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House on 7 May 2025. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
