Following the derailment yesterday of the Kaduna bound train at Asham, in Kaduna state, the Nigerian Railway Corporation has temporarily suspended all Abuja-Kaduna Train Services (AKTS).
According to the NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, the suspension would enable the Corporation to recover the site of the derailment and work towards bringing everything back to normal.
Seven passengers out of 618 people on board sustain varying degrees of injury and were immediately transported by ambulances to hospital while the remaining passengers were conveyed to Idu and Kubwa stations aboard a rescue train dispatched from Idu.
According to Dr. Opeifa, they had all returned back to their destinations.
NRC regrets the inconveniences cause by this and thanked her esteemed passenger and the general public for their understanding.
