The delay in the payment of their Pension Arears and other entitlements is worrisome to the Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state, who called on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to quickly take a decisive action to pay their areas and other entitlements as approved by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking with FocusNews on the delay, the Lagos State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Contributory Scheme, Comrade Michael Omisande said the attitude of the Governor to the payment of the arears shows he has not got the political will to pay the money.
Comrade Omisande challenged Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to come out bodily and tell the Pensioners when he is going to pay the money.
"It is our money and he has to pay us, we are the birds that lay the golden eggs we should not be allowed to suffer."
Comrade Omisande however appealed to the CPS Pensioners to continue to exercise patience as there is hope that the money will be paid soon.
He said the executive of the union monitors the development as it unfolds from LASPEC office continuously.
Reviewing the CPS Pension Scheme in Nigeria, Comrade Michael Omisande said the Federal government has short changed pensioners in the country departing from the original concept as practiced in France, Finland and other countries.
He said it was unfortunate that those who brought the concept were the one who manipulated it making it uncomfortable for CPS pensioners in the country.
He was full of praises for the Director General of PenCom, Ms Omolola Oloworaran for the good works she has been doing to make the CPS work as in developed countries.
According to him, she has been instrumental in making the federal government to implement several programs that at the end will benefit Pensioners.
Lagos state CPS Pensioners in Lagos state have been on the neck of the state government to pay them their benefits like their federal counterparts.
