LASPEC PROMISES NOT TO STAND AGAINST CPS PENSIONERS' BENEFITS, AS CPS EXCO MEMBERS STORM ITS OFFICE.

Piqued over delay in submitting the Pension increase and Wage Award document to Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, the Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Contributory Pension scheme, NUPCPS, stormed the Office of the Lagos State Pension Commission, LASPEC, on Thursday afternoon at Revenue House, Alausa.
 
Led by the chairman, Comrade Michael Omisande, the NUPCPS Leaders demanded to know the bottlenecks impeding the completion of the Financial calculation.

The Director General, LASPEC, Babalola Obilana, said to be holding talks with the External Auditors directed Mrs Makinde, in charge of pension matters to attend to them.

Mrs Makinde, said the process is still on and that the Actuarist is on the last phase of the process.

She declined to give a timeline but emphasized that LASPEC will not cast a slur in the wheel of progress.

Mrs Makinde said the commission will not work contrary to the demands of CPS Pensioners and sued for patience. 

She said the Actuary was at LASPEC Office Thursday morning to firm up the process.

She said no fewer than fifty thousand Pensioners, including en block Retirees would benefit.

Mrs. Makinde re-echoed her promise to invite the CPS leaders after the completion of the assignment before it is transmitted to Governor Babajide Sanwoolu for consideration and approval.

Earlier, Comrade Omisande and his colleagues told Mrs Makinde of pressures mounted on them by members after the release of the circular on implementation of Wage Award for DBS Pensioners.


They implored LASPEC to expedite action on the process saying CPS Pensioners are agitated.

CPS Pensioners in Lagos state call on Gov. Sanwoolu, to expedite action on the payment of their Benefits.

The delay in the payment of their Pension Arears and other entitlements is worrisome to the Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state, who called on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to quickly take a decisive action to pay their areas and other entitlements as approved by President Bola Tinubu. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
