WHO WINS CHAMPIONSHIP CUP - CHELSEA OR MAN CITY?

The die is cast, come Saturday 29th of May at The Estadio do Dragao stadium, in Portugal,  two top  English  football clubs face each other to determine who carts away the coveted Championship Cup.

It is amazing that the race is left for the two English clubs, after highly rated clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona FC and PSG have been dusted.

To get to this stage Chelsea who was not given chance at the initial stage dusted Atletico Madrid in the round of 16, eliminated Porto in the quarter finals, before thrashing Real Madrid in the semi-final.

On the other hand, Manchester City who emerged this season Premiership Champion dusted Germany's Borussia Monchengladbach with 2-0 in both legs and also kicked out of the race another German club, Borussia Dortmund in the quarter finals before eliminating the pride of French people, Paris Saint Germans (PSG) both home and away.

Chelsea and Man City have met 166 times in domestic competitions with Chelsea winning 68 times as against City 58, and they 40 draws.  However, Saturday,s  match is a different game, as Chelsea will want to continue its domination over Man City.

On the other hand, Man City will want to prove a point by winning the cup for the first time at the expense of Chelsea

Psychologically, Chelsea has an edge over Man City having beaten City twice recently.
In the semi final of the FA cup, Chelsea beat Man City 1-0, and also repeated the same feat in the Premiership by two goals to one.

Football is however not mathematics, and anything could happen. Already Man City coach, Pep Guardiola is feeling jittery concerning the game as his recent utterances do not portray him having confidence of his team beaten Chelsea.

While Chelsea is expected to come into blast at the sound of the whistle, Man City giving its style of game will want to slow down the pace. To some football fans, Guardiola style of play will be the undoing of the club against an aggressive Chelsea who will like to feel the cup for the second time.

The two clubs boast of supporters in Nigeria, with Chelsea having an edge. Whatever happens, one thing is sure the cup will be going to England. To any one of them, win or loose, Bravo.
