Shippers’ Council, NCDMB, NRC, Shittu, Jolapamo, Others Sign Up For MARAN’s 50 Drivers of Nigerian Blue Economy Book Project

By Afolabi Oyekunle.

The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) is set to unveil a book project tagged "50 Drivers of Nigerian Maritime and Blue Economy " in order to grow public knowledge on the potentials inherent in the emerging sector.

So far, critical government agencies in the industry like the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) have all signed up for the project.

Other industry bigwigs that have indicated interest include Prince Olayiwola Shittu, former President of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA); Chief Isaac Jolapamo, Chairman Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Shipowners Association (NISA), Principal Partner, Jean Chiazor and Partners, Dame Jean Chiazor Anishere (SAN) amongst others.

The association as the watchdog of the industry has expressed worries about the apparent dearth of sufficient public knowledge about the government's intention for setting up the newly created Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

According to the President of MARAN, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere,  the book seeks to document the contributions of industry regulators, operators, organizations and individuals who have invested their time, intellect and resources to the growth and development of the Maritime sector.

"It will focus on the inputs and impacts of outstanding individuals and organizations to the transformation of the Nigerian Maritime industry.

"Documenting such contributions of individuals and corporate bodies will engender healthy rivalry among stakeholders and fast track development of the sector and the new Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

"The book will in the future serve as a referral and research material for students in higher institutions of learning" Bivbere stated

The MARAN President revealed that the book is expected to be launched by the third quarter of the year 2024.

With few slots still available, the Association has further extended a hand of inclusion to stakeholders who wishes to be part of the book project to contact the association via her email: maranreporters@gmail.com, 08023058754, 08100321443.
