Tincan Island Customs CAC, Comptroller Nnadi Inducts MARAN President as Time Release Study Ambassador

Customs Area Controller (CAC), Tincan Island Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi has inducted Mr. Godfrey Bibvere, President of Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) as Time Release Study (TRS) Ambassador.
The induction ceremony which took place on Friday, July 12 at the association’s World Press  Secretariat situated at No 13c  Marine Road Apapa GRA, in Lagos was electric.



MARAN President, Mr. Bibvere, a seasoned maritime journalist, was selected for this role due to his extensive knowledge and experience in trade facilitation and customs procedures. 

As TRS Ambassador, he will play a crucial role in promoting the use of Time Release Study, a tool used to measure the efficiency of customs procedures and identify areas for improvement.

World Customs Organisation (WCO) assisted TRS was launched in Tincan Island Port (TICP) in February 2024 to determine the length of time it takes to clear cargo at the port. 
Tincan Port according to Nnadi was chosen for the TRS because of the delay in cargo release which was already known about the port. 

Comptroller Nnadi in his remarks, emphasized the importance of TRS in enhancing trade facilitation and revenue collection. 

He charged Mr. Bibvere to use his expertise to promote the adoption of TRS by all stakeholders in the trade chain.

Mr. Bibvere, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Tincan Controller and the NCS for the honour and pledged to work tirelessly to promote TRS and improve Nigeria's trade facilitation landscape.

The induction ceremony which took place at the MARAN Secretariat was also witnessed by customs officials from Tincan port and various Journalists covering maritime beat in Nigeria.
