New Commissioner of Police for Ports Authority (Western Command) Maikaba assumes Coffice.

As part of the ongoing reorganisation in the Nigeria Police Force , CP  Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba has  assumed office as 32nd Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, Apapa, Lagos.

 In a statement issued and signed by the Command's public relations officer , ASP Isaac Hundeyin , the new Commissioner took  over from CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola,  who has been redeployed as the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command. 

 CP Makaiba was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1994.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Bayero University, Kano. He has attended several courses spanning through his three-decade policing career.

 Some of these include Advance Detective Course, Tactical Leadership, and Command Course both held at the Police Staff College Jos, Strategic Leadership Training by the DFID, and several other courses in Community Policing. 

He has served in various key Administrative, Operational, and Investigative capacities where he brought his experience to bear. Some of these include Divisional Police Officer in both Kano and Katsina state Police Command, Commander, Joint Border Patrol in Maje, Kebbi State and Seme, Lagos state, Commander IGP Special Taskforce on Petroleum and Illegal Bunkering, FHQ, Abuja, Deputy Commissioner of Police FIRS, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zonal CID, Zone 1 Kano, Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Kaduna and Delta State Commands among other assignments. 

CP Balarabe was part of the United Nation's contingent to Kosovo and Sudan in 2001 and 2006 respectively where he won two United Nations commendation medals. 

His experience transverses various formations and units nationwide making him a versatile, thorough, and well-grounded senior Police officer. He is Happily married with three children 

As CP , Maikaba embarks on this voyage to maintain maximum security for enhanced trade facilitation at the Nation's Ports.

Critical maritime stakeholders, and the business community are enjoined to give him maximum support and cooperation.

PenCom urges Lagos State Governor to extend periodic pension increase to retirees under CPS, as Sanwoolu welcomes the idea.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom)  has called on  the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to extend periodic pension increases currently enjoyed by Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) retirees to those under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to boost their monthly pensions.  The Director General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made the request during a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House on 7 May 2025. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
