NIMASA challenged to give account of Cabotage Vessels Financing Fund (CVFF)

Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has been challenged to come clean with the total amount of the Cabotage Vessels Financing Fund, (CVFF) in its account. 

An expert in the Transportation Industry and the Deputy President of  National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Dr. Oluwasegun Musa made the call while speaking at the Media Forum of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), at its International Office, Apapa, Lagos. 

Dr Musa  who is the Managing Director of Widescope International Logistics Limited, said since NIMASA started keeping the money many years ago it has not given a kobo to any of the Indigenous shipping companies which the money is meant for.

Dr Musa in cap stressing a point, seating besides him is the Maran President Godfrey Bivbere. 

He challenged NIMASA to audit the account and come out with the total amount in it's custody.

Dr. Musa said there should not be any reason in keeping the money as the plan behind it is to use the fund to help build the shipping indusry.

He doubted if NIMASA would be able to give the accurate figures in its account.

Speaking on the creation of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Transport Expert said the Blue Economy is a fraud as blue economy has always been with us.

He said it was a wrong misconception to have created the ministry which ought to be part of the ministry of Transportation.

Dr. Musa indicted the Federal government for not given adequate attention to the Transport Industry which he said should be the driving force of the economy.

He said if the country continues to play with the transportation system then its toying with the economy .

On the aviation sector, he said value has not been added as wrong people have always been send to the place. 

Dr Musa commenting on the Nigerian Customs Services said though its services are improving recently, its services should be automated.

He said Customs Services must be truly digitalized if it wants to facilitate trade.
