All set for the conferment of Iconic Maritime Personality of the year 2024 on Customs CG Adewale Adeniyi.

The much awaited conferment of the Iconic Maritime Personality of the year 2024 on  Customs CG Adewale Adeniyi takes place on Thursday 13th of February at the Airport Hotels, Ikeja in Lagos.

A former National President of Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and Chairman of Skelas Group, Prince Olayiwola Shittu, will lead maritime industry stakeholders as the Chairman to  the much-anticipated award dinner being organised by Nigerian Maritime Journalists to honour the excellent performance of the Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on Thursday.

The event, which will hold at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Awolowo Road, Ikeja, Lagos State, by 6pm, is expected to have the creme de la creme of the maritime industry from CEOs of government agencies to freight forwarding bigwigs, top ship owners, terminal operators, shipping lines, regulators, among others.

Nigerian Maritime Journalists, comprising all the associations covering the maritime beat, have come together to honour the Customs CG as the “Iconic Maritime Personality of the year 2024"

The need for the Nigerian maritime media practitioners to honour the CGC is a unanimous decision by all maritime journalists, cutting across print, electronic and online media, led by the different beat associations.

These include the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), League of Maritime Editors (LOME), Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON), Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), Shipping Correspondents Association of Nigeria (SCAN), Online Maritime Media Association of Nigeria (OMMAN) and Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners  (CONMMEP), as well as those who do not belong to any association.

They believe that CG Adeniyi has registered sterling and excellent performance since assumption of office as the Customs CGC.

These include unprecedented revenue collection, anti-smuggling activities, trade facilitation, national security, staff welfare, inter-agency collaboration, infrastructural upgrade, Information and Communication Technology, and Corporate Social Responsibility, among others.

Association of Senior Civil Servants affirms Comrade Shehu Mohammed as National President.
