By Afolabi Oyekunle.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has declared that 'enough is enough' to what it called illegal activities of Sterling Oil in the Petroleum, labour sectors and the county's economy.

This was the consensus of Speakers at the second day of picketing of the offices of Sterling Oil  at Victoria Island on Wednesday.

The company was accused of several activities; flouting the labour laws of the country, bringing into the country hundreds of Indians that engage in menial works such as Gardening, Cooking, Security and Welding which Nigerians are capable.
It was also accused of illegal mining of the country's natural resources, enslavement and victimization of workers.

The company workers according to the protesters are full of Indians with few Nigerians.

Sterling Oil was also accused of engaging workers and sacking them arbitrarily within 3 and 11months.

Addressing multiple of picketers at the Victoria Island office of Sterling Oil, the President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Festus Osifo said as a measure to make the company to bend, the Association has withdrawn its members from all loading activities at Sterling Terminal.

Osifo said Sterling Oil management has made clandestine moves to reach out to PENGASSAN inviting its leaders to Eko Hotels which the Association declined.

The PENGASSAN boss said any meeting between the Association and Sterling Oil must involve the regulators, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Commission and must be in a place acceptable to the Association.

He however said if Sterling Oil will not do the needful and send packing the Indians doing menian jobs in the country such as cooks, gatemen, artisans and gardeners the Association will not reach any agreement with it

The PENGASSAN President said there are over 1,000 Indians working in jobs that are not meant for expatriates.

Osifo therefore called on the government to cooperate with PENGASSAN and see that these categories of Indians are sent packing to provide additional jobs for Nigerians.

Other companies in the likes of Sterling Oil were warned to desist from such activities of Sterling Oil.
