The two powerful Industrial Unions in the oil and gas sector, NUPENG and PENGASSAN have called on the new management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL to immediately rescind its recent appointments to top positions in the company.
In a statement signed by the General Secretary of NUPENG, Comrade Afolabi Olawale and PENGASSAN General Secretary Comrade Lumumba Okugbawa, the two unions said positions in the company must be filled with staff of the company and not external people.
According to the unions, filling top management positions with external people without consideration for those staff who have served the company is a detriment to them and affect their growth.
The unions recalled that Dr. Kachukwu in 2015 as the head of the company made the same blunder which yielded no positive results.
NUPENG/PENGASSAN therefore demanded immediate reversal of the appointments to prevent any industrial action, as their members have been put on alert for possible industrial action.
The two unions commended the Chief Executive and the Board members of NNPCL for their appointments by President Bola Tinubu on 2nd April 2025 wishing them well in office.
