APC Chieftain commends peaceful local governments election in Lagos State

APC Chieftain and Organizing Secretary South West of the party, Honourable Lateef Ibirogba has commended the peaceful local government election today in Lagos State, as he tasked incoming administrations to prioritize the welfare of the people through infrastructure development and provision of laudable projects.

Honourable Ibirogba said this today while casting his vote at Lateef Ibirogba Close, Ward F, within Agbado-Oke Odo Local Council Development Authority (LCDA).

He advised the elected local government officials not to see the people as slaves but know they are the ones that voted them into office.

Honourable Ibirogba called on them to prioritize completion of projects left behind by their predecessors and embark on new projects such as rehabilitation and construction of roads, employment as well as education of the youths.

Honourable Ibirogba used the occasion to call on the Federal Government to grant full autonomy to the local governments to enable them perform more.

" With autonomy I can see them doing more,I see them taking decisions that would be in the interest of the people."

He said in Lagos State, there has not been any problem in the running of the local governments as the state government is not touching their money or interfering in their affairs.
He called on the National Assembly to ensure that the 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos state are enlisted with the rest local governments to become full fledged local governments.

" I see them taking decisions that would be in the interest of the people." 

Honourable Ibirogba praised the 📩 outgoing local governments chieftains in Lagos state for their monumental development projects which he said have been beneficial to their communities.

PenCom urges Lagos State Governor to extend periodic pension increase to retirees under CPS, as Sanwoolu welcomes the idea.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom)  has called on  the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to extend periodic pension increases currently enjoyed by Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) retirees to those under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to boost their monthly pensions.  The Director General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made the request during a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House on 7 May 2025. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
