LSG sets to Launch the Omi Eko Project at Five Cowries Terminal

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), is set to officially launch the Omi Eko Project on Friday, 17th October 2025, at the iconic Five Cowries Terminal, Falomo. 

This event marks a pivotal milestone in the state’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development, cutting-edge water transportation, and smart city innovation.

The launch is expected to attract distinguished government officials, development partners, key stakeholders, community leaders, and the press to witness the debut of this transformative initiative.

Scheduled to start at 10:00 AM, the event will feature appearances by dignitaries, compelling keynote speeches, a virtual overview of the Omi Eko Project, and the ceremonial unveiling by Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Omi Eko Project is poised to revolutionize Lagos’s water transportation landscape by integrating innovative technology, strengthening terminal infrastructure, and championing environmental sustainability. With the deployment of over 78 high-capacity electric ferries, digital ticketing systems, intelligent terminals, and safety innovations, the project will significantly reduce commute times and establish a reliable, modern transportation option for millions.

The Five Cowries Terminal, a central hub of intermodal transport in Lagos, will serve as the perfect location for this launch, symbolizing the seamless integration of land and water mobility as outlined in the Lagos Urban Mobility Plan.

CPS Pensioners in Lagos state call on Gov. Sanwoolu, to expedite action on the payment of their Benefits.

The delay in the payment of their Pension Arears and other entitlements is worrisome to the Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state, who called on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to quickly take a decisive action to pay their areas and other entitlements as approved by President Bola Tinubu. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
