NRC MD assures of his commitment to turn around for good the fortunes of the Corporation.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa has reiterated his commitment to turning around the fortunes of the Corporation by prioritizing the completion of ongoing projects

He also assured of his desire to the rehabilitation of all serviceable rolling stocks, expanding services, improving customer experience and modernization of operations and its efficiency particularly along the AKTS corridor. 

He made the Commitment as he rode with Passengers at the official resumption of  
The Abuja–Kaduna Train Service (AKTS)  on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, following weeks of intensive inspections, safety checks, and staff training carried out by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC). 



His presence was to personally witness resumption ride and help rebuild public confidence in the service.

He further disclosed that a dedicated Customer Service Department has been established to promptly address passenger concerns and improve service delivery. 

On safety, Dr. Opeifa reassured passengers and staff of the corporation’s unwavering commitment to security and welfare. He said  that  a discreet but effective security measures have been put in place to safeguard all stakeholders. 


The first train departed from Idu Station in Abuja, stopped at Kubwa to pick up passengers, and successfully arrived at Rigasa Station in Kaduna. A return trip was also scheduled the same day, signaling the full restoration of passenger train operations on the corridor. 

Speaking with journalists after arrival at Rigasa, Dr. Opeifa expressed satisfaction and gave glory to God Almighty for His grace during the corporation’s recovery period. 

He highlighted the central role of a modern railway system in fostering national unity and development, noting that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has invested massively in rail infrastructure across the country. 

Dr. Opeifa reaffirmed his determination to position the NRC as a world-class, passengerfriendly service provider capable of driving socio-economic growth through modern, safe, and efficient rail transport systems nationwide.

PenCom urges Lagos State Governor to extend periodic pension increase to retirees under CPS, as Sanwoolu welcomes the idea.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom)  has called on  the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to extend periodic pension increases currently enjoyed by Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) retirees to those under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to boost their monthly pensions.  The Director General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made the request during a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House on 7 May 2025. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
