ASCSN says steps are being taken to secure release of Defence Directors kidnapped.

By Afolabi Oyekunle.

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has expressed shock over the kidnapping of Six Directors in the Federal Ministry of Defence on Monday 10th November 2025, just as it assured its teeming members throughout the country and the families of the kidnapped victims that necessary machinery has been put in place to secure their freedom.

In a press statement issued in Abuja on 11th November 2025, the ASCSN National President, Comrade Shehu Mohammed, and the Secretary-General, Comrade Joshua Apebo, stated that the Directors were kidnapped at Kaba-Lokoja road on their way to Abuja for Promotion Examinations for the Directorate level in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

“Those kidnapped are Mrs. Ngozi Ibeziakor, Mrs. Emeribe C.A, Mrs. Helen
Ezeakor C., Mrs. Ladoye C.A, Mrs. Onwuzurike J.A and Mrs. Essien Catherine .
“These Directors who are members of our Union working at Command Day Secondary School (CDSS), Ojo, Lagos were travelling from Lagos to Abuja when they were kidnapped,” the Union stated.

The ASCSN posited that the Defence Ministry has mobilized its security operatives who are taking necessary measures to free the Directors.

“We have always advised the Federal Civil Service Commission to conduct Promotion Examinations in the States instead of subjecting Public Service employees to be travelling long distances from different parts of the country to Abuja for that purpose because of security challenges as well as bad roads that endanger the lives of workers.

“We reiterate our demand that henceforth promotion exams and verification exercises when the need arise should be done in the States to reduce the dangers associated with long distance travels,” the Labour Leaders emphasized.

The Union commended the Ministry of Defence for swiftly mobilizing its security personnel to move into action to ensure that the Directors are freed.
