Pensioners ask to prioritize their health care.

After lengthy years of service, workers after retirement deserve to enjoy their benefits and good lives.

It has however discovered that many of them live under infirmity, sickness, while many died just few years after retirement.

Speakers at the 2025 end of year get together of Agege Zone, Contributory Pension Scheme took time to advice the Pensioners to ensure they prioritize their health, and live good life style. 

According to some of the Speakers, they should watch their diet, avoid sugary substance, fat foods, have adequate rest and take enough water daily.

They were also advised to always check their blood pressure and take their drugs as prescribed by their doctors.

The end of the year get together was a reunion of members in the zone, who exchanged pleasantries and danced to good melodious music.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Agege Zone of the CPS Pensioners, High Chief Sulaimon Ojekunle thanked the members for believing in the Union and called on them to always be alive to Pension matters.

He assured that the zone in collaboration with the state CPS will continue to work in the interest of Pensioners.

Some of the Pensioners who spoke to FocusNews called on the Lagos State government to prioritize the interest of Pensioners in the state.

They called on the state government to ensure that their allowances from 2007 as approved by the Federal government which their counterparts at the Federal levy are enjoying are  paid on time.

PenCom urges Lagos State Governor to extend periodic pension increase to retirees under CPS, as Sanwoolu welcomes the idea.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom)  has called on  the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to extend periodic pension increases currently enjoyed by Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) retirees to those under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to boost their monthly pensions.  The Director General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made the request during a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House on 7 May 2025. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
