By Afolabi Oyekunle.

Pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme in Lagos state are warming up for battle against the state government if their long awaited pension arears are not paid by March 2026.

The Pensioners have been told to be battle ready for series of protests against the Lagos State government if nothing fruitful is achieved by March.

The Chairman Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Contributory Pension Scheme, NUPCPS, Lagos State Council, Comrade Michael Omisande, gave the warning, while addressing members of the Association, Amuwo ODOFIN Zone at their New Year get together held on Wednesday in Festac.

         Comrade Michael Omisande

He said the mother of all Protests would be jointly organized with the Leadership of DBS Retirees who are being owed 60 month- Pension Arrears.

Comrade Omisande said in foreign Lands, Senior Citizens are not subjected to this stress by home Governments before receiving their Entitlements.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu

He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants better life for Retirees hence, the payment of Pension increases to Federal Retirees which Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu has promised to follow suit for his Pensioners in Lagos State.

He said an underground machinery is in place to monitor the Template submitted to Mr. Governor and expressed the belief that Mr. Governor would not disappoint his Retirees.

He urged Amuwo ODOFIN RETIREES to continue in fervent prayers and thanked them for their support.

The Coordinator, Atinuke Ogundimu pledged the cooperation of Amuwo ODOFIN RETIREES to the Agitation for the pension increases.

It could be recalled that the Template for the payment is already with the government but nothing concrete has been heard on when it would be implemented.

The Pensioners are displeased with the lagos state government for its nonchalant attitude towards the payment of the pension arears.
