Brazilian Descendants in Lagos set to hold Musical, Drama and Cultural displays to mark Good Friday and Easter.

The Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association in Lagos is set to hold its 6th Edition of Feijao Fiesta,on Good Friday, April 3rd,and Musical and Drama Extravaganza on Easter Sunday 5th April.
The events are billed for Popo Aguda Pavilion, Igbosere road, and the Campos Mini Stadium, Joseph street, in Lagos, by 2pm.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, John Alapini, at a press briefing at the Brazilian Embassy, in Lagos.
The events which will feature rich Brazilian and Nigerian culture will be grace by great musicians like Yinka Alakija, the Prime Qwest Band, Gboyega Adelaja, Saxophone Hub, Coloz Angels, Temilayo Abodunrin, Serrano Agidigbi Band, Pereira Funky Agidigbo Band, Dimeji Agidigbo Band, and Shady B.
Also to display their rich culture are groups from different parts of Lagos; the Egunguns, Sangeto, Sango, MeiBoi, and other numerous groups.
According to AIG Alapini, this year events will improve on past events which were also well coordinated to both local and international standards which attracted attendees in Nigeria and in diaspora.
The theme, is, "Our Culture, Our Heritage First, reflecting the cultural existence of the Community of Popo Aguda.
He assured that security will be tight for the safety of guests, as security agents will be at work and emergency services would be on red alert.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Brazilian Descendants Arts and Culture Association, in Lagos, Asiwaju Bolaji Mendes said the members desire is to continue to sustain the rich culture of the Brazilian Descendants.
He said they are out to continue to see that their long standing relationship with the Brazilian nation is kept alive.
Also speaking, the Acting Consul General of Brazil, Mr. Celso Dr Arruda Fransa said the rich cultural affliation of the Brazilian Descendants Association with Brazil will continue to be sustained.
He pledged the continue assistance of the Embassy to the Association.
He disclosed that a book has been written cataloguing the activities of Brazil to its past.
The press briefing was attended by many Descendants of Brazil in Lagos, which included a former Vice Chancellor of the Lagos state University, Professor Abisogun Leigh and Sir Soleye James.
Professor Leigh disclosed that to ensure the cultural bond between the Yorubas and those in Brazil, those who wish to teach Yoruba language in Brazil could attend a three months free program at the Lagos state University towards receiving tutorial lessons in preparation for the exercise in Brazil.
