Ilupeju Oke traditional chief, throws weight behind creation of states police by Federal government.

Creation of states police by the Federal government under the Administration of President Bola Tinubu should be a welcome idea to all and sundry, as it will help in improving security to all nooks and crannies of the country, in particular the communities and rural areas.

This is coming from the Baale  of Ilupeju-Oke, in Ifo local government area, Chief Akorede Sunday Afuwape, while speaking with FocusNews on the recent established Police Station, built by the Community, at Iyanacele, in Ilupeju-Oke.

Bale Akorede totally support the concept of the creation of states police by the present administration. He said it's a good development towards protection of lives and property in the country, in particular the rural areas.

On the establishment of a Police Station at Iyanacele, he said it's a good development facilitated by the community that will help in combating crime. He believes with the creation of states police, many communities who desire police posts such as this will be able to have the opportunity.

Bale Akorede Afuwape said with state police, crime rate will go down as men of the police force will be able to go deep into the communities and the grassroots towards combating crime.

He thanked God Almighty, who was the Alfa and Omega towards the success of the police station at Iyanacele. Bale Akorede Afuwape was also of gratitude to all the Communities leaders, in particular Isokan Central Body and all his Chiefs 

In particular, he thanked immensely, Chief Samuel Odeyemi, A.K.A.Baba Cele, for his strong support, financially, materially in making sure the police station is a reality.

Bale Akorede Afuwape was also grateful to the Police Area Commander Seyi Williams, DPO Olabisi of Ifo local government who supported the initiative of the project from the beginning before final approval by the Ogun state Police  Commissioner.

Bale Akorede said citing the police station at Iyanacele is not to intimidate anyone but to ensure peace and progress of Ilupeju Oke community. He is of the opinion that with peace and orderliness in the community there would continue to be rapid progress.

On further needs of the Ilupeju Oke community, He appealed to the Ogun state government, to come to the aid of the community in reconstruction of the main road, the Iyanacele main road which he said is in bad condition and always impassable during the rainy season.

According to him, the community has been doing its best to maintain the road, but needs the help of the government to upgrade.

Bale Akorede said if well constructred it could be easily connected to other communities such as Ilepa, Igusi, Egan and Ilogbo.

He also called on the government to build health centres and public schools in the community due to its large population.

The traditional ruler also called for support of the government towards the proposed Mechanic village by NATA.

He said the community has already granted land for the project but is awaiting the government go ahead.

Bale Akorede said the mechanic village will help boost trade and commerce in Ilupeju Oke community as it will attract many people who will come from far and near to repair their vehicles.

He therefore appealed to the Ogun state government to expedite action action and give quick approval and support the project.

PenCom urges Lagos State Governor to extend periodic pension increase to retirees under CPS, as Sanwoolu welcomes the idea.

The National Pension Commission (PenCom)  has called on  the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to extend periodic pension increases currently enjoyed by Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) retirees to those under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to boost their monthly pensions.  The Director General of PenCom, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, made the request during a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House on 7 May 2025. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
