Today's monthly environmental exercise went smoothly within Agbado-Oke Odo LCDA communities, with the Chairman, Mayor Jimoh Ejigbadero leading other officials including the Vice Chairman, who is also the Supervisor for Environment Honourable Kehinde Yusau Shobayo on inspection of many arears.
According to a press release signed by Ojo Samuel Oluwafem,
Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, the monitoring exercise saw the Chairman visit key locations to assess residents' compliance with sanitation directives, inspect the general condition of public spaces, and interact with community members on the importance of maintaining a healthy environment.
The exercise also provided the Chairman opportunity to identify environmental concerns requiring immediate intervention while reinforcing government efforts towards cleaner neighborhoods, safer drainages, and improved public health standards.
Speaking during the exercise, the Chairman commended residents who participated in cleaning their environments and business places.
"The condition of our environment often tells the story of our collective attitude towards health, safety, and community development. Every clean street, cleared drainage, and properly managed public space reflects the shared responsibility of residents and government working together to build a better society."
Hon. Ejigbadero emphasized that environmental cleanliness should not be viewed as a monthly obligation alone but as a daily culture that reflects civic responsibility and community pride.
According to the Chairman, sustainable development begins with a clean environment. He noted that preventing environmental hazards, reducing disease outbreaks, and creating a more attractive community for residents and investors alike require consistent cooperation between government and citizens.
The Chairman reiterated that his administration remains committed to implementing policies and initiatives that promote environmental sustainability while encouraging residents to play their part in preserving the cleanliness and beauty of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA.
Joining the Executive Chairman during the monitoring exercise were the Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Kehinde Yusau Shobayo; the Secretary to the Local Government, Prince Buhari Sulaimon; the Majority Leader, Hon. Bisi Bola; Chief of Staff, Mr. Rabiu Abdulrasheed; Hon. Fadipe Fisayo Olamide, Supervisor for Youth and Sports; the Head of Department, Environment, Mrs. Okeowo; Environmental Sanitation Officers; members of the Council's Management Team; executives of NULGE; representatives of NYCN; members of the Environmental Task Force (Clean Up Agbado/Oke-Odo); officials of OSAL International Foundation; and other stakeholders.
As the exercise concluded, the message remained clear: " A cleaner environment is not built by government alone but through the daily actions of every resident. The choices we make today, how we dispose of waste, maintain our surroundings, and protect public spaces will determine the quality of life we leave for future generations. Together, we can continue to build an Agbado/Oke-Odo that is cleaner, healthier, safer, and more prosperous for all."
