Pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme in Lagos state yesterday used the May Day rally to draw the attention of the state Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu and the world to their plight as they staged peaceful protests during the rally. The event was so dramatic as it caught the attention of everyone at the stadium.
The Pensioners expressed their displeasure to the non payment of their Pension Arears since it was approved by President Bola Tinubu since 2025.
According to them, because of financial situation many could not adequately take care of themselves and many are dying.
They decried the delay in payment of their pension arrears, which their federal counterparts have been receiving since it was approved by President Bola Tinubu.
The Pensioners called on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to acceed to their request and pay their entitlement as they are dying.
The Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat who stood in for the governor however assured the Pensioners that the government is working on it.
We are happy that the news Carried the events all over the world last night. The Governor made a loud response that he was going to pay. We appreciate all the Excos, zonal Coordinators and members for expressing the minds of Pensioners to the world to see what is happening in the center of excellence. In actual sense it is a shame to the authority of Lagos State Government.
