The Trade Union Congress(TUC) at an emergency National Executive Congress in Lagos, Monday 18th May, 2026 took drastic against some members, expelled 11 members and suspended 15 others for what it called disobedience and violations of the Congress resolutions.
The decision was taken at an emergency NEC meeting that took place at Radisson BlHotel, at GRA, in Ikeja.
Reading the Communique signed by the National President, Comrade Festus Osifo and Secretary General, Comrade N.A. Toro before newsmen, Comrade Osifo said a disciplinary committee had earlier been set up to investigate cases of flagrant disobedience by members and officials who disregarded the resolutions and decisions of the Congress .
Those expelled are

3. Comrade Veronica Egbukichi – ATSSSAN
4. Comrade Salau Oladele – SSAUSCGOC

The Officers according to the Communique are barred from representing, acting for, speaking on behalf of, or
holding themselves out as officers, members or representatives of TUC at
any meeting, election, negotiation, engagement, public function, media
appearance or official assignment.
2.They are prohibited from using the name, logo, letterhead, seal, emblem,
insignia, identity materials, official documents or any trademark or
property of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria.
3.They are also barred from participating in any meeting, election, congress,
committee, delegation, conference, negotiation or activity of TUC at the
National, State Council, affiliate, zonal or any other level.
4.They shall not issue correspondence, press statements, notices,
communiqués, circulars or any form of communication in the name of TUC
or any of its organs
TUC National President, Comrade Osifo in the Communique said discipline is essential to the survival, stability and integrity of the Congress, stressing that no personal interest or ambition should supersede the collective interest and unity of the Congress.
He said the expelled members cease to be members, or officers representatives or functionaries of the Congress in any capacity.
