Blue Lagos Initiatives has secured a major healthcare partnership with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare services in Lagos State's riverine and coastal communities through the rollout of a Telemedicine Scheme.

The collaboration was reached during a strategic meeting between the Blue Lagos delegation led by its Convener, Mr. Saheed Adesanya, and the management team of LASHMA led by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba.

The meeting focused on exploring innovative healthcare solutions for underserved communities and strengthening access to essential medical services across Lagos State.

As part of the partnership, plans are underway to deploy telemedicine services across 152 riverine and coastal communities, enabling residents to consult healthcare professionals remotely and access medical advice, referrals, follow-up care, and other vital health services without the challenges often associated with distance and  transportation.

Speaking on the significance of the collaboration, Convener of Blue Lagos, Mr. Saheed Adesanya, described the initiative as a major step toward improving the wellbeing of residents in coastal and riverine communities.
"Healthcare remains a fundamental need for every citizen. This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to ensuring that residents of riverine and coastal communities are not left behind in accessing quality healthcare services. Through technology-driven solutions, we can bridge existing gaps and bring healthcare closer to the people," he said.

The Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, reaffirmed the agency's commitment to expanding healthcare access and supporting initiatives that advance universal health coverage in Lagos State. She emphasized the importance of leveraging technology and strategic partnerships to reach vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations.

Dr. Emmanuelle Zamba

The proposed Telemedicine Scheme is expected to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce barriers to medical consultation, promote preventive healthcare, and enhance access to professional medical support for thousands of residents across Lagos State's coastal and riverine settlements.

Both organizations agreed to continue engagements on implementation strategies, community sensitization, stakeholder mobilization, and partnership frameworks to ensure the successful rollout and sustainability of the initiative.

The collaboration aligns with the broader vision of the Lagos State Government to promote inclusive development and improve the quality of life of all residents, regardless of their geographical location.
