Battle line drawn, CPS Pensioners warn LASG, pay our entitlements or face persistent protests.

Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state say they are tired of the delay by the state government in paying their pension entitlements as approved by the federal government.

Towards this, they have given the Lagos State Government, 19 days notice, to credit their Accounts at the Pension Fund Administrators, PFAs, or face persistent protests by the Pensioners.

This is contained in a notice by the state Chairman of the NUPCPS, Comrade Michael Omisande to EXCO MEMBERS, ZONAL CO-ORDINATORS AND CPS PENSIONERS.

"It is notified for the information of all CPS Pensioners in Lagos State that following perceived delay by the Authorities in actualizing the Pension increases/Wage Award Template submitted in January, 2026, the Undersigned wishes to give the Lagos State Government, 19 days notice, to credit our Accounts at the Pension Fund Administrators, PFAs.

Failure to meet this demand will amount to embarking on A MOTHER OF PROTEST, tentatively on 31st August, 2026.

"The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State has been notified of the impeding protest which We suspended on 1st April, 2026, following interventions from Eminent personalities in the Pension Sector and Labour Movement.

According to Comrade Omisande many of the people are dying, facing serious terminal health challenges , thrown out of their rented apartments and could not eat two square meal again due to the suicidal Pensions being paid and the leadership of the state is insensitive about the issue.

"Please, be prepared No sacrifice, No gain. Pensioners United can never be defeated. Solidarity for ever."

Omisande: CPS Pensioners in Lagos State assured of payment of their increase pension benefits as their Federal counterparts.

PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists. The Director General was surprised when she was asked why the Template for the payment was not released to Lagos State government for the payment of backlog of areas and allowances as approved by the Federal government, which Federal retirees are currently enjoying.
