Lagos CPS Pensioners take their case to President Tinubu, call on Him to intervene.

By Afolabi Oyekunle.

Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state have taken their case to President Bola Tinubu calling on him to prevail on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to pay the Pensioners their entitlements and wages increase.

The Pensioners who spoke on the delay by the Lagos state government to pay their entitlements called on President Bola Tinubu to look into their case. According to them, the Governor has been dragging his feet  to pay the Pensioners since the Template used to pay  by the federal pensioners was submitted to him.

Speaking on the issue, the Chairman NUPCPS in Lagos state, Comrade Michael Omisande said the attitude of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu in delaying the payment is in opposition to the Renewed Hope of President Tinubu who is against suffering of Pensioners in the country.

         Comrade Omisande

Comrade Omisande said as part of his renewed hope agenda, President Tinubu approved money for federal pensioners and also restored gratuity which has been suspended for many years.

He said Lagos state should emulate the magnanimity of President Tinubu and see that the Pensioners are paid their benefits.

Comrade Omisande said the Lagos state government does not have any genuine reason not to pay the Pensioners. He said Governor Babajide Sanwoolu had promised to pay the Pensioners, but the situation on ground is baffling as the government has kept silence despite the 19days  ultimatum given on August 1st to the government to implement it.

Comrade Omisande said having been push to the wall, Pensioners in Lagos state would embark on peaceful warning protests on all the local governments on Monday 24th August 2026.

He said if the government fails to respond after the warning protests, the Pensioners will on August 31st embark on Mother's protests to the Government House.

Comrade Omisande said to ensure security, the Police had been informed, calling on the Pensioners to exercise their rights through peaceful protest.

Also speaking the Secretary of NUPCPS, Comrade Olagbaiye Johnson appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to listen to the appeal of the Pensioners and pay their entitlements.

According to him, the CPS Pensioners are really suffering due to the little monthly amount they receive under the CPS scheme.

He said it was ridiculous that many receive as low as 20thousand naira in a month while some retired Directors receive not more than 70thousand naira .

Comrade Olagbaiye Johnson said many of the Pensioners are sick while they have lost others.
