Contributory Pensioners under the (CPS) in Lagos state will on Monday 24th, 2026 stage warning protests in all their zones to press for their Pension entitlements and wages enhancement from the Lagos state government.
The protest is coming after the expiration of 19days ultimatum given on August 1st for the state government to pay them which the government has not fulfilled.
The Pensioners said they have decided to embark on the protest as they could not continue to live with the situation where many of their members are suffering because of the peanut they are receiving under the present pension scheme.
They wondered why the Lagos state government is delaying the payment after the actuarists have completed the complications of their total benefits package.
The Pensioners said if the government fails to pay them after the warning protests they will embark on what they call ' Mother's of protests on 31st of August to the government House in Alausa.
They said the bed ridden, sick and the elderly will be brought to the rally.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the NUPCPS in Lagos state, Comrade Michael Omisande has called on all the Pensioners to ensure their presence at tomorrow's protest.
Comrade Michael Omisande said it is a warning protest over government's insensitivity to Pensioners plight after the expiration of the ultimatum.
Comrade Omisande said the protest is going to be peaceful as the police will be around to ensure law and order.
He said President Bola Tinubu in his magnanimity has been forthright in his Renewed Hope Agenda by addressing the myriad of problems facing pensioners in the country and approved the lump sum of money to address their long term allowances and pension enhancement.
According to him, the federal pensioners had since received the payment since last year while their Lagos state counterparts are still pressing the government to follow suit.
Comrade Omisande said it behoves on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to follow suit to further the good gestures of President Bola Tinubu if he truly believes in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president.
It's quite unfortunate that Mr Sanwo olu can now turn deaf ear to the pensioners plead after all that he has promised on this same issues .
ReplyDeleteTruth be said, all his actions towards the payment of the money is in opposite directions to the agenda of APC "Renew hope" which Mr President stood for. Anyways: PAY US OUR MONEY IT'S OUR RIGHT, IT'S OUR ENTITLEMENT .
