Pensioners Warning to LSG: Don't Underestimate Our Powers and Influence.

Pensioners in Lagos state have warned the state government not to underestimate their powers in deciding the next election in the state.

The Pensioners who are unhappy with the state government in dealing with their affairs in particular its reluctance to pay the Contributory Pensioners their defined benefits and wages enhancement warned the government to note they have voting rights and can use their influences to tilt situations in their favour.

The CPS Pensioners last Monday took to the streets in their zones carrying placards with various inscriptions on the injustice being melted to them by the state government.

They warned that treating Pensioners as second hand citizens will have a negative consequences on the government in particular in the coming elections in the state.

To the Pensioners, the Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwoolu has not been right with the CPS Pensioners, pledging once to pay them their enhanced benefits and later back pedalling.

They said the warning protest last Monday is a child play to the Mother's of all protests coming on Monday August 31st at the Governor's office and the House of Assembly , vowing to storm the places in their thousands to protest the inhuman treatment being melted to them.

According to the Pensioners, many of them are sick as they could not adequately take care of themselves due to the little money they collect monthly under the Contributory Pension Scheme, while they continue to loose members due to curable sickness.

They decried the situation where some members receive as low as 20thousand naira in a month and a retired Director on level 17 who received over 500 thousands naira while in service earns not up to one hundred thousand naira.

The Pensioners took time to call on President Bola Tinubu to wade into their plight and call on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to pay them their benefits like their federal counterparts.

It could be recalled that in 2025, President Bola Tinubu granted approval for the payment of increases in wages to Pensioners which the federal pensioners have since been enjoying and the Lagos state government fails to implement.

CPS Pensioners in Lagos state call on Gov. Sanwoolu, to expedite action on the payment of their Benefits.

PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists. The Director General was surprised when she was asked why the Template for the payment was not released to Lagos State government for the payment of backlog of areas and allowances as approved by the Federal government, which Federal retirees are currently enjoying.
