Falana pledges support for Lagos Pensioners.

Human Rights Activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana says he is solidly behind Lagos State Pensioners over agitation for Pension increases/Wage Award.

He made the promise on Wednesday evening when the chairman, Lagos State Council, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Contributory Pension scheme, NUPCPS, Comrade Michael Omisande visited him in his Office.

He told Comrade Omisande to brief him on the outcome of tomorrow's meeting with Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu.

Falana said he will join the Lagos State Pensioners, if there is need to stage another protest to force the state government to accede to their demands.

He said he had reached out to the inspector General of Police on the need to investigate the tear gasing of the Pensioners during Mondays peaceful protest at the Lagos House, Alausa.

Falana decried government denial of Pensioners rights saying the resources are available for the implementation of Pension Arrears spanning 16 years.

He asked the Leadership of DBS and CPS Pensioners to go to Thursdays meeting with Governor Sanwo-olu with determination and remain focussed.

Falana said he had also held talks with the chairperson, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Lagos State, Agnes Funmi Sessie on the Pensioners Agitations.

CPS Pensioners in Lagos state call on Gov. Sanwoolu, to expedite action on the payment of their Benefits.

The delay in the payment of their Pension Arears and other entitlements is worrisome to the Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state, who called on Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to quickly take a decisive action to pay their areas and other entitlements as approved by President Bola Tinubu. PENCOM pledges to see that Lagos State pays CPS retirees.

Director General of National Pension Commission, Ms Omolola Oloworaran has pledged that the Commission will fast track and work towards Lagos State government paying retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme what is due to them like their federal counterparts. She made the pledge at a media workshop in Lagos for journalists.
