NUPCPS Lagos Chairman: We are on the track, and will not disappoint our fellow Pensioners

By Afolabi Oyekunle.

Chairman of Contributory Pensioners in Lagos state, Comrade Michael Omisande has assured CPS Pensioners that the Union Executive has not distracted from the demands from the state government assuring them that the payment of their 32thousand naira increase will begin in November 2026 into individual accounts.

Comrade Omisande made the comment following misunderstanding by some pensioners about the 5 man committee he set up to look into how Pensioners could key into the program of the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Kadiri  Hamzat who is the APC Gubernatorial candidate.

       Comrade Michael Omisande

"While some of you are liking us with Oshiomole as he deceived the Lagos workers in those days. Our team does not compromise, though we are not rich neither are we poor. good name is better than silver and gold. We have had time mostly in the night to dialogue with this government, we have decided to lose some battles but wins some wars."

He assured them that there is no delay tactics employed  to the matter, as members of the Executive understand them more than most of the Pensioners.

According to Comrade Omisande during the course of the negotiation all the government team  travelled outside the country and had returned

"We have concluded with them and l can assured you of commencement of  payment of #32k in November like other Pensioners in the state."

He assured that the payment is going to be done locally that is from government account to their personal account and it does not  involve the PFA, saying that is how it will continue.

He assured the CPS Pensioners that their  bulk increase will be paid  in January 2027 into their PFA..

"Setting up of a committee to look into Hamzat manifesto has nothing to do with our negotiation. But it is for us to look into the future of" Pensioners in his blue print".

He assured that  where he fails to capture the Pensioners in his programs' they will be able to tell him .

According to him the same procedure  is applicable to other candidates because one cannot predict the political terrain of Lagos State.

"Late Otedola won Lagos state governorship election when we least expected. We are fully determined to ensure that Pensioners' life is better.*

"For the main fact that we are on negotiation that does not mean we cannot look at some other areas in the interest of the Union. While some are agitating for protest, we are elderly, we cannot be facing the government all the time. The last we did was highly regretted by the government as it damaged their image locally and international. "

He assured them that  Governor Babajide Sanwoolu will soon approve  all the agreements reached with the Pensioners.
