Omi Eko Project Management debunks reports of lack of progress on the project.

By Afolabi Oyekunle.

Omi Eko Project Management has debunk a report  by an online news platform, alleging that seven months after the project’s kick-off, no physical infrastructure has been delivered on the ground.

According to Dr. Segun Alabi, Head, Communications & Media of
Omi Eko Project the narrative is misleading and fails to recognise the established processes involved in delivering a project of this scale and complexity.

"The Omi Eko Project is being implemented in line with global best practices for major infrastructure development, which require a structured progression through 1. planning and procurement, 2. design, 3. infrastructure development, 4. implementation, and 5. evaluation phases. These preparatory stages are critical to ensuring that the project is technically sound, financially responsible, environmentally sustainable, and capable of delivering its intended benefits

He said the absence of visible physical structures at an early stage should therefore not be misconstrued as an absence of progress.

According to him, Infrastructure projects of this magnitude require extensive technical assessments, detailed engineering designs, procurement processes, stakeholder engagement, and other essential groundwork before major construction activities commence.

He said the Omi Eko Project, a transformative initiative aimed at modernising Lagos State’s waterways transportation system, is being pursued with a long-term vision of delivering a safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable transport network for residents.

He  urged the public and media practitioners to exercise responsibility by verifying information through official channels rather than circulating narratives that could misrepresent the project’s implementation process.

He assured that he Project Management remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the successful delivery of the Omi Eko Project for the benefit of Lagosians.
