The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has acknowledged the concerns expressed by pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme in Lagos State regarding the implementation of pension increases and wage awards. In a release,  PenCom acknowledged the importance of ensuring that retirees receive all benefits legitimately due to them and appreciates the concerns arising from delays in the implementation of any approved pension adjustments. Pencom reiterated that it is engaging the relevant stakeholders to ensure that these processes are properly addressed. According to PenCom, it has engaged with the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) on matters related to administering pensions under the CPS, including the need to extend appropriate pension adjustments to eligible CPS retirees. The Ogun State Government has issued a fresh flood alert ahead of the second phase of the 2026 rainy season, advising residents in vulnerable communities to remain vigilant and relocate to safer locations where necessary. The warning followed a forecast by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMet) identifying Ogun state among states expected to experience heavy rainfall during the year. In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya, the state government said the first phase of the rainy season, which ran from mid-March to July, witnessed intense rainfall and isolated flash floods in some parts of the state, but with comparatively minimal impact. The Pensioners who are unhappy with the state government in dealing with their affairs in particular its reluctance to pay the Contributory Pensioners their defined benefits and wages enhancement warned the government to note they have voting rights and can use their influences to tilt situations in their favour.
